Knitter's Review
June 12, 2003

the Bathing Beauties design from Jennifer PudneyKnitting often runs in the family, and this is sometimes true for yarn manufacturers too.

Last week we previewed the newest batch of yarns from Berroco, which is headed by the original founder's great-great-great-grandson Warren Wheelock.

This week we look at Karabella Yarns, a New York-based company headed by Arthur Karapetyan. His mother, Berta, founded its parent company in 1993.

New This Week
We've received a fresh care package from Karabella Yarns. Here's a look at what we found inside.

New in the Boutique
No matter how much we love knitting, sometimes we need a break. I've discovered a wonderful outlet in Jennifer Pudney's bright, colorful, and often whimsical needlepoint kits. I'm happy to share Jennifer's kits with you by offering them in the boutique starting this week.

Retreat Registration is Now Open!
I invite you to secure your spot at the second-annual Knitter's Review Retreat, scheduled to take place November 7-9 at the Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria, Virginia. This year's activities will center around color -- how to choose it and use it with confidence. Read about last year's retreat: it was a great success.

In the Forums
Many of us justify yarn splurges by saying that, since we're making sweaters and gifts instead of buying them, we're actually saving money. Fact or fiction?

June Prize
Every month we pick one newsletter subscriber to win a prize valued at $50. For June I'd like to do something a little different. At the end of this month, Knitter's Review will make a $50 donation to the charity of the winner's choice. To put yourself in the running, simply stay subscribed to this newsletter.

As always, thank you for your readership. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
