Knitter's Review
June 19, 2003

handspun silk blend and lilyWhen you're on the road and in need of a yarn fix, the last thing you want to hear is that the closest shop has gone out of business.

That's what happened to me this week during a trip to New Jersey. Fortunately, fate turned my lemons into lemonade, as you'll read below.

New This Week
Many of us dream of creating a new yarn store from scratch. For Susan Olson, that dream became a reality when she saw the "For Rent" sign in the window of what had been Handwovens of Pennington, in Pennington, New Jersey. She sprang to action, and on May 15, 2003, this store opened.

Back at home, I've been eagerly awaiting this batch of yarns ever since I heard that Knit One Crochet Too had come under the direction of knitwear designer, editor, and author Hélène Rush. At long last, here they are!

New Cards in the Boutique
Over the next few weeks I'll be introducing seven new notecard images in the boutique. I'm hard pressed to say which is my favorite, but the first image -- entitled Grace -- has special significance because it features the very first peony to bloom in my garden.

KR Retreat Update
Although we have more than four months to go, our second-annual Knitter's Review Retreat, scheduled to take place November 7-9 at the Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria, Virginia, is almost 50% booked! This year's activities will center around color -- how to choose it and use it with confidence.

In the Forums
The "No Yarn for One Month" group is now entering its second month. Are you ready to re-enlist?
