Knitter's Review
August 28, 2003

the name's Al... Al Paca...A friend recently paid me the ultimate compliment after she read Knitter's Review for the first time. She said, "I felt like I was reading one of those wine magazines."

Only then did she realize that there's an art and science to the creation, use, and enjoyment of yarn. Just as there's a universe of detail in each sip of fine wine, we can find endless pleasure from each strand of yarn that glides through our fingers. And that's why I'm here, to help guide you on the journey.

Coming in September: We look at the almighty alpaca!

New This Week
We finish our exploration of cotton combos with a look at a soft, lightweight, and stretchy yarn that Rowan unveiled earlier this year.

Big Treat from The Big Yarn
They're here! Denyse Specktor has just released a low-priced version of her NeedleSizer tool made from a tortoise-shell plastic. I have two special offers to celebrate this release.

First, we have a limited run of plastic NeedleSizers with a vintage glass bead ornament, available while supplies last. And through September 10th, buy one plastic NeedleSizer and get the second one at half-price. Simply choose the "special sale" option when ordering.

Although the weekend rooms are all booked, you're all invited to join us on November 8 for the Saturday workshop portion of the second-annual Knitter's Review Retreat in Syria, Virginia. You'll learn principles and techniques for combining colors with team teachers Annie Modesitt and Bess Haile. Stay for dinner and enjoy an evening of spinning and knitting by the large stone fireplace in our meeting room!
