Knitter's Review

Waiting for the UPS truck

I asked Canadian writer and knitter extraordinaire Stephanie Pearl-McPhee to share a few words with us about the beloved Canadian staple, Patons Classic Merino.

She steps in this week because I've been busy completing my second book. By the time you read this, a UPS truck will have pulled up in front of my house and picked up two large cardboard boxes containing all the fruits of my labor. It's a tremendously exciting and exhausting time, and I couldn't be more grateful to Stephanie for helping out.

This Weekend
Fiber festivals abound across the country this weekend. In Hemlock, New York, we have the Finger Lakes Fiber Arts Festival. In Yellow Springs, Ohio, A Wool Gathering will take place at Young's Jersey Dairy. In Unity, Maine, spinners will flock to the fleece show and sale at the Common Ground Country Fair. And in Watertown, South Dakota, don't miss the North Country Fiber Fair. Links to these events and more can be found on our upcoming events page.

In the Forum: Knowing When to Chuck
Jeanine went away last weekend with a new yarn and pattern, looking forward to two days of uninterrupted knitting. But then the yarn started snagging and splitting, and the pattern proved frustrating. Soon she was cursing her knitting instead of cruising along. The whole experience made her question the connection between effort and outcome. At what point do you declare defeat on a project that isn't working?
