Knitter's Review
October 9, 2014
Får from Woolfolk

A few years ago, I heard rumors that Patagonia (the company) was working with ranchers in Patagonia (the region) to improve the quality of wool being grown.

Apparently it was part of a bigger biodiversity and grasslands regeneration project called Ovis 21. Years later, the sheep are now producing wool as fine as cashmere.

While most of those precious fibers go directly to the fashion industry, Kristin Ford managed to nab an exclusive deal for her new handknitting yarn company, Woolfolk. Join me for a very satisfying swatch.

Coming Up
Prepare for a busy weekend! In Hartford, Connecticut, we have Stitches East; in Ketchum, Idaho, the streets fill with sheep for the annual Trailing of the Sheep; while across the pond in the UK, the Knitting and Stitching Show takes place at Alexandra Palace in London. These and hundreds more can be found on our calendar of upcoming events.

In the Forums: Sturdy Socks
Diane's son plans to hike the Appalachian Trail next spring and has asked her for handknitted socks. How about it: What yarn and fiber blends would you recommend?
